Isabelle Mizrahi with Berkshire Hathaway and Frank Langen with Deasy Penner Podley are both residential real estate agents. The website offers a comprehensive, up-to-date list of properties for sale and lease inthecanyon as well as an informational resource of History and the rich Lifestyle enjoyed by the residents and visitors of the Santa Monica and Rustic Canyon community. We hope you find it useful!
Santa Monica Canyon, known simply as the "The Canyon" to its dwellers, lies just north of the city of Santa Monica. It is a shallow, flat-bottomed little valley, crowded with cottages of self-consciously rustic design, where cranky, kindly people live and tolerate each other's mild and often charming eccentricities. The Canyon is our western Greenwich Village, overrun now by various types of outsiders, but still maintains an atmosphere of Bohemian and unpretentious artiness.

Frank Langen has been successfully selling houses in Los Angeles since 1994. Representing both buyers and sellers in the volatile California market keeps him interested. Having been in the trenches through several recessions, including the Great one, make his insights into the current market conditions invaluable.
Born in Santa Monica, Frank Langen was schooled in both Europe and the United States. He was first drawn to art & architecture in his youth due several architectural projects his parents built and visited around the world.
Langen graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Economics and Philosophy. Soon after he returned to Europe as an adult taking a position with Cargill Industries as a commodities trader stationed in Paris, Milan and Hamburg. Eventually Langen practiced photography apprenticing for several notable photographers.
In 1999 he started the inthecanyon.com website serving the Santa Monica and Rustic canyon areas. Langen currently resides in the canyon in on of the original Uplifters log cabins. He bases himself out of his offices at 169 W. Channel Road centrally located in Canyon Square. The building designed by Jim Tyler, one of the Case Study architects, which also houses his gallery which specializes in photography.

If you are considering moving to the Canyon, we would like to meet you! Although the website is helpful in introducing the Canyon; taking an actual tour with one of us, in the orange Jeep around the canyon, checking out what’s recently sold, is currently on the market or will be coming soon is magical and very efficient. The tour will help you decide quickly what area of the Canyon you prefer to live in and what price range best suits you. We have a deep fondness, sense of history and understanding of our canyon and will be able to share a broad perspective of past trends and educated glimpses into the future.
“Frank Langen helped me buy a wonderful house in Santa Monica Canyon and then, seven years later, when my life changed, found the right buyer for what had become a treasured home. He was insightful about the market and candid about the opportunities and challenges, listening to what I needed and always acting in my best interests.” Elizabeth Marcellino
Norman just told me about the closing! You have done incredible work and we are so appreciative of all of the detailed negotiation and advice.

If you’re considering selling your home, or would simply want us to share an accurate reading of how the current market values your house, we are the ones to call. We are deeply committed to our community, participating in the voluntary home owners association boards, living in the canyon and raising our families her. We take pride in representing every home we list and work hard to achieve the highest sales price. When we list a house, outside brokers respect our pricing because of our historical presence and success. Home owners often tell us that we price their house at the top range of a 20-30% price differential amongst other agents and appraised values. Appraisers often call us for insights into past sales not having been on the market to help support their refinance requests. If you are considering a potential remodel or addition we are also available to advise you as to how the market interprets improvements in dollars and cents with a prudent eye to selling in the future.
Thank you for making the sale so swift and painless. You saved us from ourselves. We appreciate all that you have done for us. With love & gratitude.
Steve & Elizabeth Z.
“Selling a house is more than just setting the right price and putting a marketing plan in place -– though Frank did a great job of delivering on that most critical front – buying or selling can also be an emotional process and one that requires coordinating lots of details and quick response times. Frank and his team at Deasy Penner understood all the ins and outs and made my life easier. Whether serving as sounding board, market guru, part-time psychologist or no-nonsense proxy, Frank was the best of brokers.” Elizabeth Marcellino
One of the biggest draws to living in the Canyon is our elementary school. Currently one of the highest rated elementary schools in California, Canyon elementary is supported by the neighborhood through private funding, the booster club, and is in walking distance for all residents. It’s a neighborhood school!
